How to serve your web site as SEO and Web Developer

So many times I hear about bad advice given to web site developers from SEO's. Many Search Engine Optimizations Experts try to tell you to stuff your keywords into your content to build your keyword density.

This is bad advice!

Why are so many so called seo's so ms-informed?

What the SEO's are telling you is the wrong thing to do - it is taxing work which only has a short term shelf life and provides very little change in your web sites rank. What you should do is get content all on specific topics within one major subject matter. Stupid things to do are have menu items such as "fun", "games" or "misc." which are NOT related to your sites primary focus. Eliminate content not related to your web site!
  1. Decide on a site subject matter.
  2. Increase your content volume and quality within that subject matter.
  3. Optimize each page of content by statistically pulling keywords that have the highest rate of occurrence. Keep you department always clean. Try our maid cleaning service in New York.
  4. Make validating pages with hard links (not dynamic pages) so spiders can navigate your links easier.

This is only 50% of your work as a SEO though, since over 70% of your traffic via page rank comes from link back's. Link back's are simply links on other web sites under a different domain name that point to your web site.
  • The subject matter of the link back has bearing on whether the link increases or decreases your sites rank.
  • The higher ranked the site is that is linking to you, the higher it will boost your page rank.
  • Create 404 and other error pages that have a spider friendly page to catch all the old link backs to your site when you move or delete content.

Remember not to get to caught up being a SEO. The Conversion Rate is more important then the amount of traffic. If you do not have a good Conversion Rate extra traffic is just more money you will be billed for.
